2017 Domaine Netofa Chenin Blanc

After tasting a pre-release version of this wine in December, I have been itching to get my hands on the finished product. I have now spent a solid 3 hours with it and this wine does not disappoint!

As always the wine is unoaked 100% Chenin Blanc. Slightly more subdued on the nose then when I last tasted it. I am not sure if that is due to the filtering that this wine has seemingly undergone (it is slightly clearer than I remember it)  or simply the extra couple of weeks left in the tank (it was bottled 3 weeks after the pre-release tasting). It could also just be me – but it was VERY fruity on the nose in December – and now not so much, with just some faint pear. That was about my only disappointment here.

In the mouth, the wine is just as I remember it, with pear and a bit of banana with very  nice acid and a great creamy round mouth feel and a nice medium minerally finish. Don’t drink it too cold as the acid is less present. Really easy drinking fun bottle here.  Not overly complex – but it’s not meant to be.

Bottom Line:

  • Price: NIS 55
  • For Aging: No
  • Would I Buy Again: Yup
  • QPR Rating: Good
  • Taste/Depth/Quality: Good
  • Overall Rating  (1-5): 3.5

    • Not too fruity on the nose. In the mouth there is ample fruit though not over the top. Raclette (I hope you mean the cheese dish – I’ll admit to having to google it as I’ve never had it.that’s the only one I know) should go very nicely I would think – though as I said, I’ve never tasted it.
